Is it possible to have flecks painted onto sculpted objects using the spray option?

Hi, is it possible to have the flecks to be sprayed onto a sculpted object using the spray tool the same way you use the paint tool? Say for an instance, i want to make a rusty looking surface...by spraying the flecks directly onto it, would give a much more realistic look.
