How do you make a puppet grabbable by the imp during gameplay?

I am working on a game and one of the core pillars of the game is to have a few puppets walking around minding their own business and the player via the imp has the ability to interfere with their lives via picking them up, slapping etc.

I am finding it extremely difficult to pick up the puppet and move it around in play mode. I've tried using an invisible object grouped with the puppet and connected via a string or an elastic connector but both are lacking (especially the elastic connector). I've asked around reddit and the dreams discord server and I haven't found anything helpful.

I hope here I might find a solution. Thanks in advance!!!
