Paint Mode: Flat Flecks

  • Supposer

A note on the textbox method, you can change the colour of the box to a darker one if that would help in a particular circumstance.

Make sure you're turning impasto to -100% as they do in the video, as opposed to 0%.

I'm not sure what you mean about the edges being "chaotic." If impasto is at -100%, they will be flat, but perhaps you're talking about something else?

Does it seem to look the same as in the video? How does it differ?

Try selecting the basic fleck (the default one I mean) in the Paint mode. Turn on the "paint on surface of an object" (or whatever the name is) feature in the Options menu so that all your painted flecks will stay on the same plane as you paint.

Now, If you do NOT need to paint on a surface of an object, just create one anyway, and paint on top of it. That way your painting will be flat like a piece of paper. And then just delete said object afterwards if you don't need it. Your painting will be OK even without it, because they are two separate things.

Then choose the pencil tool and before actually painting make the fleck on the tip of your imp smaller and thinner (by holding down on D-pad I believe). And that's pretty much it.

When flecks are thin and attached to a surface, you get a pretty "flat" result. I tried it in a rather bumpy surface once - worked great. The only downside is that the fleck had to be reeeally tiny, and it covered a very small area. But you know, if your surface is mostly flat, you can use a bigger fleck. It all depends on a situation.

    Hope it'll help.
