How can I cut Specific angles out of shapes?

How can I cut specific angles out of shapes? I can't keep the cut level without the grid and when I turn the grid on I can't rotate the shape to the angle I want. How is there not an option to rotate freely while using the grid?

  Try turning off the grid and using Precise Move instead. It’s not exactly what you want, but you should be able to find the correct angle. Keep in mind you can also place the cut away shape on the grid, and then use Precise Move to get the angle.
  I agree, we need specific angle rotation options :)

  I't not ideal, but it you bolt it onto a second object then use precise move to change the angle, that might help.

  Further to @Pookachoo's point, you can turn on the "local space" option so that the axes it uses are relative to the object itself. If that helps?
