Get rid of the imp
I have made a short movie. I do not want the imp to be visible, there is nothing to interact with. How do I turn it off?

under the camera properties you can turn off imps visibility.

Quite simply pop open the tweak menu for your camera. Leaf through the menus and you will discover several options including hide your imp or change the imp size.

Just to add to this, I noticed that the imp was still showing briefly on the blend from one camera to another. Is there anyway to get rid of that?

You could force the imp to posses something that has no controls.
Than your imp won't be visible.
But you need to disable the auto camera that is on the controlled object somehow and I haven't tested that yet. -

could pop in a global settings tweaker and turn off imps on the "Settings 2" page
