How do I paint

How do I paint like different shades and colors ect with out painting the whole object I thought choosung to paint with the shape would work but it just paints the whole sculpt

  If you want to paint the surface of a sculpt you have to into that sculpt’s “sculpt mode” by using L1+X and then using the airbrush tool + a shape, you can draw in color where the shape intersects the sculpt.

  You should try the 2nd art tutorial about sculpting if you want to see it in action :)

  Yeah I'm gonna have to mess around with it because I was doing that last night and it made the sound like it was brushing but not doing a thing lol

  I think maybe you're wanting the SPRAY PAINT tool. So, in SCULPT mode choose tools and then towards the end you will see a spray can. This is the SPRAY PAINT tool, you can choose colours, opacity, and blend. Good tip though, if you have coated the object you will NOT be able to spray paint it. Just subtract/remove the coat and you should be fine. Hope that helps some. :)
