  When you try to make something public there is a warning saying "making something public is forever." This is because you cannot delete something that is public after it's released.
  
  What you can do is make it unlisted, so it does not show up for other players in dream surfing, searches, and your "my creations" list. To do this, go to the creation's cover page, click the cogs button, and click the button to toggle between listed and unlisted.

  Unlisting has no affect on collections. So if someone has already added your public level to a collection it will not disappear from the collection just because you have unlisted it. So be very sure before pressing that public launch button.
