Shift+Dpad for personal shortcuts

I love this idea, there are so many things I do so often that there's no shortcut for, custom macros would be so nice.

In addition just thinking about it now, Shift + Touchpad Button is currently unassigned, as is Shift + L3 and Shift + R3

I'm upvoting this, though I'm leaning more towards the game Elite Dangerous: The shape buttons are each a function on tap. On hold, they become 4 modifiers for all other buttons, fully customizable.
That's 15 single button functions, and 44 two button combos. 59 total functions to be assigned how you want.
That seems like too much, but if you treat each of the 4 modifiers like categories, then you can think of the controller in terms of 5 different modes. ie hold x+buttons for guides, hold o+buttons for show/hide, etc.

It could also be cool to gain an extra area in the menu pallete for "bookmarked" shortcuts. So you could bookmark any menu item and it then gets added to your perminant palette of shortcuts. The main point being that these shortcuts are always visible, regardless of which sub-menu you are in!
