How do I taper using the curve tool?

I've seen them do it on the streams. I use moves and I figured you'd go into edit shape mode, stretch it to length, grab the last one and circle-twist on secondary to resize it like you do everything else. But it has no effect at all. I tried the d-pad on the ds4, still nothing.

What am I missing?

  Tap the two controller bulbs together. Adjust the diameter of each end by pressing the twisting your left hand while holding the left hand circle button, and twisting your right hand while holding right hand X. You can press the left trigger to set the curve when you get it just right. You can also then use the usual adjust brush thingy to manually adjust the curve points.

  There's actually extra handles beyond the 2 ends. Move them closer to that end to make it smaller, pointier. Move it further away to make it fatter.
