How do i puppet L1+■ on a sculpt?

I'm trying to turn my rigged sculpts into a puppet, but i cant get it to act like a puppet, even when i copy as much of the blank puppet i can to my rig. The only thing i cant figure out is how to get that purple puppet base to show up, without transplanting my rig into a blank puppet group.

I mean even the connie puppet has one.

To skip needing that i need to figure out how to not have my rig just ragdoll, and make the feet pin to surfaces.

  Being able to rig the puppet controller to multiple limbs would be handy.

  Even a tutorial on how to make a puppet from scratch without the blank puppet would be helpful

  The purple thing is unique to the Deluxe/Basic puppets.
  
  What you can do is make your own sculpt to act as a base, and group that with your puppet, make it non-collidable, invisible etc.

  Put your puppet inside a standard puppet or deluxe puppet with base. Then delete the ordinal puppet and scope out. Now you can press L1+square and on the limbs page you can configure each limb on your new puppet.
