Puppet can't reliably jump while running up an incline. How do I fix this?

  • dmprince

i haven't fiddled around with puppets much. does messing with the angle slider for the puppet in its properties help?

I've noticed this also. Not sure what causes it.

I adjusted all the angle properties I could find. Is it possible that certain angles just don't work well? All of the inclines in my level are about 30-degrees. I really hope this isn't some unavoidable quirk with the physics system. It'll put a damper on creating more interesting platforming scenarios. I'll have to do some more experimenting.

Have you tried increasing the physics quality of the ramp object? Or increasing its resolution (sculpture detail)?

Right. After a little experimenting, the best I can figure is that speed and slope angle are the culprits here. If a puppet is going too fast up a ramp it'll either be unable to jump or the jump height will be severely limited. I also did a test with ramps of various angles and the difference in jump height is very noticeable between, say, a 15-degree slope and a 30-degree one. Maybe this is something that'll have to be designed around.
