Can I make procedural animations my self without a puppet?
Hi.
I know you can peace together a animated charecter with conectors, but everybody rather use pupets beacouse they have procedureal animations.
So my question is can we make procedural animations ourself?
It might be with a feature or with a bypass constructed from multiple logics.
I hope anybody can help me with this.

I'm curious to because I completely made my own "puppet" and everything with connectors but I didn't add a puppet interface yet and whenever I hit play he flew accross the room xD
-
That's cool.
It probably flown away because it's parts are colliding with each other and are trying to push each other away.
I hope you and I get answers. -
Hi,
This is possible, although it will take a good amount of logic work that I can't explain here easily.
Basically you need to make your character and joint it up with a parent child hierarchy.
Then use keyframe and animations to move it how you want, and those animations are hooked up to the logic that tells them to play at the right time

Hey John.
Thanks for the response.
I understand I can keyframe a makeshift puppet to let it walk and jump and everything.
But I want t know how you can tell peaces of the model to find the floor and adabt to it.
It would be also handy to know how you can make body parts of the regulair puppet searge for a point and move and/or rotate to it. -
Can you get collision normals in dreams?
-
Hi,
As I say it will require some complex logic, laserscopes can get you a surface normal, but it depends what you do with that info.
So the answer isn't straight forward so I recommend starting simple and adding more logic as you gain confidence in it

Thanks for that bit.
I want to use that data to rotate and position the feet on the ground like the puppet usually does.
Btw can that normal be plugged into a rotator?
And I assume the lazerscope also returns a position like the tag.
Thanks again for the reply. ☺
PS: If you are John Beach, that was a nice rock you created. ? -
Check out the T-rex https://indreams.me/element/b8ETbhTsTS8 for a good character made without using the puppet

That's without a puppet?
Wow.
I though that one was made by splitting it up and putting the parts on a repositioned puppet.
