How can I copy the mirror placement when creating a thing with multiple parts?

I was creating a dog and I tried to create each part of the body separate. I realized I had to create a new sculpture and try to eyeball the mirror placement so it would be identical on each side. Is there an easier way to do this?

  When editing a puppet there’s a “puppet mirror” setting somewhere, I believe.
