Turn 2 different objects into 1

Sorry if it's a silly one but can we actually combine two separate objects so that we can edit them (in sculpt mode) together? Meaning that neither of them will be greyed out and blured out in the process. Obviously, grouping them won't help.

And if not, can we somehow turn the "grey out" effect off while editing different pieces of an object? Or at least turn off the blur.

  You can turn off the grayed out visual effect in your settings, but there’s no way of merging two sculpts into one.

  Try turning visual feedback down to minimum
