How to navigate a sculpture more easily
I just find navigating a scene to be incredibly difficult. You will make an eyeball for a character but moving the paint spots to place on the eye is like pulling teeth in terms of getting centered. Does this game have an object camera lock like Maya so you don’t end up a million miles away when trying to paint? Also after I paint onto the eye, moving the eyeball object removed the paint

The grid is your friend here.

You have to sculpt into the object that you want to paint for the paint to stay with it. Have you tried tuning Surface Snap on when trying to paint?

Hi,
The camera orbits around the thing the imp is hovering over, if you use R1 plus sticks. I use this method the most.
Are you using DS4 or moves?

So with painting L1 is great for plane painting.
Turn on surface snap and grid snap. Before you focus in on the object take it and hit L1+Triangle to set the grid to the object or vice versa. This will help you when you start painting because it's all on the same grid now.
So now scope in L1+X and then start painting while holding L1 once your on the the same layer of grid you want to be in. I find myself constantly painting holding L1 it helps stay on grid.
One thing to note though surface snap applies to any surface so with more complicated paintings the paint starts snapping to previous paints instead of the surface. I found a work around but it's probably not what your looking for. So if you need help let me know! -
Another thing that is key for precision movement is to get used to how the L2/R2 shoulder buttons work. The amount of change you make is somehow proportional to how hard they are pressed, so when you want to slightly change a position/rotation, just hold the shoulder button very lightly.
"Grid" and sometimes "precise move" are also really useful settings in various situations.
