Smoothing
Hi there, I'm already decently skilled at 3D character modelling in other programs and I'm hoping to carry those skills into Dreams, so far I've worked out how to sculpt using the smear shape and locking to the surface of the figure, but the end result has creases appearing when I try to sculpt over already sculpted areas, and it looks really messy. I'd like to be able to smooth over those areas to make everything look nice and neat. I can't find any tool to do that though, any kind of crease-erasing tools available?

hi,
instead of smearing, change to stamp (in the tool menu when sculpting) and add on some soft blend (l1 + square on ds4 to open menu for smoothing) and try using both positive and negative shapes to plump out or push in your current sculpt to make it look softer.
good luck

When starting using Dreams, I had to change some of my intuition when compared to working with other 3D tools where you're usually dealing with a subdividing mesh. IMHO the main thing to realise is that you are instead always working with a set of geometric solids, that are combined into your sculpt according to a few simple rules. This means you can't aribitrarily "smooth" your sculpt afterwards, as you might be used to. Instead, you either add or subtract more shapes to the sculpt, possibly with varying degrees of blend. You can also move/scale the shapes you've already put in there. It's a different paradigm that takes a while to get used to, in particular what will be the result of blending two different shapes. E.g. angular shapes can give quite unexpected results and odd creases. Rounded shapes (sphere, torus) are probably the easiest to work with if you want to avoid creasing.

I see, its going to take a while to get used to. Anyway I just finished my first character!! You'll find him under Cat Dude in the search engine, I'm pretty happy with how he turned out but his legs don't work properly, I think because I mirrored his legs together. I've no idea how to fix him yet, so for now he's psychic and can levitate!! :D Feel free to fix him for me if you like, don't feel forced. I'll probably learn the advanced modelling and animating once the game releases and there's more tutorials.
