Invisible object and force applier?

Do force applier still work on invisible objects? I have my object moving around with a force applier just fine. Then I turn it invisible with a key frame and it no longer moves (I can tell as it is emitting thrust graphic which doesn’t move and I have a painting stuck to the front).

Is there a way to get this to work? I want to be able to toggle between ‘object’ and ‘painting’ being visible so I can have a ‘retro’ switch to vector graphics

  I think there's a setting in the last tab of the force applier, to say whether it should apply to visible or invisible objects, or both?
