Animation: Play Once and stop
I have tried to create an animation with the recorder to move an object. It doesnt matter what I try the object moves back to its starting position after the animation. I thought selecting play once would make the object move to where I put it, and that was it. What am I missing here?

Hi there!
If you tweak the action recorder there's a button on its tweak menu called keep changes. If you select that and try rewinding time and playing again once the action recorder has finished playing it will stay where it finished as long as its set to play once :)
We go over keep changes in the second animation tutorial :)
Thanks,

Nope. The object did not stay in position and Keep Changes was selected. I am wondering if there is physics at work here - will an object connected by a bolt fall back down after you move it with an animation? I have a lid of a treasure chest which I animated to open. After the animation it closes. I can work out how to keep it open.

Sorry typo *I cant work out how to keep the lid open.

Hi there!
I've just tried to re-create what you've said below so I've made myself a quick chest, given it a bolt joint for a hinge, animated it with an action recorder opening, however my chest lid doesn't fall back down when the animation finishes.
I even tried having my limits on my bolt joint defy gravity so the animation wouldn't end where gravity is in it's favour but it still kept in the place I left it in.
Is there anything else special in how you've set it up?
Thanks,

It released. So maybe you could look at it. I have also posted a bug around this because the bolt has vanished (even though the lid is connected).

Hey,
I've just looked at your chest and it has no logic or animation, have you definitely published your updates. Your version history specifically states its version 1 with no logic or hinge.
Thanks,

So if I release some thing then edit it the changes dont automatically change on the live version? I did not know that.

OK. Animated version is now live

Hi,
I took a look at it a little while ago (been feeling terrible all day since getting ill :() and I can see what you mean about your animation.
I left a comment on your chest but in case you don't see that I'll ask here.
So did you create the animation before or after adding the bolt on the chest? As I'm wondering how it's gotten into the state it has done.
As I had a go at recording a new animation and deleting the old one and it worked OK.
Have you tried redoing the animation?
Thanks,
Cat -
Aha, so it wasnt me - some sort of bug! Sort of a relief, though probably not for you. I recorded the animation after adding the bolt - could not do it before because I could not get the movement without, but replaced bolt after. Did not try re-doing the animation as I thought it was my understanding of the logic to blame. This is how I made it if you want to try to recreate bug.
1. Made base of chest
2. Made lid of chest as separate sculpture.
3. Added bolt
4. Manipulated bolt orientation
5.Removed bolt and added bolt several times as the lid was not opening straight
6.Thought I had it right. Did opening animation
7. Lid still not opening straight, removed bolt.
8. Added bolt again.
9. Movement on lid now correct, but in a loop that I could not stop
