How do I use Record Possession and Followers fluidly together?

So an enemy is on recorded possession. Once the player is in the vicinity, the enemy follows the player. Now here's the tricky part, when the player leaves the area, the puppet goes back to the recorded possession but he teleports back to his original route. Is there a way to smooth this out? I tried turning on Travel on the Record Possession but that makes the route completely off. Any ideas?

  put a tag at the start of your recorded possession route, then when the npc loses the player have then "follow" that tag instead. They should run to the tag and then once in the vicinity you can use another sensor to reactivate your recorded possession.
  
  There might still be a slightly jarring transition if the npc isn't in the exact right spot to start the recording but it will look a lot better than randomly teleporting!
