How Do I animate the shapes comprising a sculpt?
I want to move the shapes that make up a sculpt for each animation segment but I can not see how. How was the trunk for the elephant bot creature animated if not this way?

I figured the trunk for Mm elephant bot character was animated by moving the shapes around that make up the sculpt but I can see no way for either keyframes or action recorder to do this. It only tracks the movement of the sculpt overall and any changes made to the shapes within are not remembered by the recorders.
I even thought a dev confirmed that was how it worked to me once. -
they created each part of the animation. wired them to be powered off, put them in order on a timeline and turned things off and on to sorta simulate it.
i think thats what the video showed if you slow it down

Thank you. That is handy. I do wish we could do it the way I thought but this will help for sure.

I don't know why we cannot do this but it seems such a missed opportunity to not be able to record moving stamps/shapes around with in a sculpt layer especially with the power of the blend tool. This would make for some wicked animations that would be far easier to pull off and put together than the method of having all the the various stages of an animation as separate sculpts that get turned on and off as it plays through. This method will work I suppose but if we could do it with one sculpt and a recorder that captures the changes of the stamps/shapes that would be far more ideal I think.

when i say wired. you don't have to. you just power them off in the respected object's property. using the keyframe since it records step. you just click the power on and it records it. you do that for each keyframe.

Now that I know how to do it I published a simple example for others to see. I made 3 different colored spheres come together as one as if they were blobs. I think if would be handy for flexing or face changes or even something as specific as a tire going flat.

Hi,
Just read all the comments, so as you have found out already you can't animate the shapes in the sculpt.
This is a limitation of our engine and unlikely to change I'm afraid.
But changing the visibility of sculpts is a good workaround.

I was also thinking this would be great, but I’m not sure if it’s too much for the game to process during play?
The potential for animating facial features seems amazing if we could do this :)
