How do I model non organicaly

  • mmdev1 - John & Luci

    Hi,

Using the mirror mode really helps make things look 'designed'
Try using the upright guide and precise move guide to help with making things look less organic.
I love the grid and there are so many cool ways to use it once you get used to it.
I just had a look at some toy vehicles,
I think you'll find that the rounded cube shape with a bit of soft blend will help.

Then gently shape the main shape of the vehicle by negatively soft blending more rounded rectangles.
Finally use hard negative cylinders and cubes to cut into the shape to make you're vehicle.

    Good luck

I've mostly been doing non-organic modelling so far. I find its often easier to use the stretch tool to get a shape onto the grid after it has been stamped. Also if you're not using the grid, I find it easier to be precise by just stamping the shape in roughly the right spot then moving it with nudge(partly press R2) to get it just right. Precise move is also extremely helpful. I seem to switch between these 3 modes a lot as well as changing grid size often. I sometimes plan the edits I'll need to make on paper first but maybe that's just me. I see it as a puzzle of sorts.
