How do I: stop objects rotating when I grab them in edit mode

I'm in the middle of trying to create a scene and I was creating walls. Everything was working fine when placing things on the grid and picking up objects and moving them. All of the sudden I go to pick up and move a wall and it rotates as soon as I grab it with R2 and now I can't line it back up with the rest of the walls

  Oh man, that sounds really frustrating. I have never experienced the issue you are describing but you might be able to use the precision move tool which will prevent objects rotating when you grab them.

  This happens to me sometimes, it's normally because you have left the 'upright' guide on.
