Liquid simulation.

You can already do this, but you need to set up the logic to allow for the water interaction. Dreams is different from LBP in that there's not many predefined behaviours or assets. If there was, then everyones water would look and feel the same way. Take a look at this for some inspiration on how to add your own water: https://indreams.me/element/ofSLTgNuzFk

I was really using LBP as an example so people understood rather than a “this is how it should be”

I understand, but i feel like my point still stands..

I've been practically begging some dreamers to reveal their water secrets for a while now.  And while the adorable cartooney RPG water looks great, there are those that hold tightly onto the ways of creating 'realistic' water.

It can be done.  It already has been done.  How?  I have no idea.  But I'd love to know their secrets.  Maybe I'll figure it out one day :)

I disagree Johvork, I don’t think there’s anything close in Dreams right now capable of perfectly mimicking actual liquid. There are realistic water plates like Bella said, but an actually liquid simulation would push the boundaries.

  • Johvork

That doesn't come clearly through in your post then. Good realtime liquid simulation would be a breakthrough even for Unreal Engine, let alone Dreams.

@Bella_Iris, (or anyone actually) could you give us some dreams examples that you think actually have good water in them? I only know the "text" microchip, the painting "fleck" and the basic block trick I actually don't know how to do the physics of water but I have some ideas.

    Great answers

I did a series of tutorials for how to make water and underwater effects. Not saying it's the most realistic, but those kinds of techniques are how most of the realistic water is done, too. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLX3qX-yI9vm4uAYMnE0_-i53NvoWAY6gS

And one about objects floating in water. https://youtu.be/HfftkhOC6PE

Yes, enough hacks. Can we get some decent water built into the engine already?  Surely this can be accomplished better on the back end than the front.

    I've wanted this so bad!!!

Playing with the water simulations in Terraria and Starbound (and to a lesser extent Minecraft) is extremely fun, this would be a good addition but I feel like it would be too heavy on the physics engine.
