Midi Import

  • SwarmHammer

You can lookup for MIDI loopback application that would allow your DAW to send MIDI signals to another software, like midi2osc.

Something that may help you is note-snapping, which snaps notes to the nearest proper timing. So timing drifts shouldn't affect the recording of the performance itself.

SwarmHammer Midi2OSC is mentioned in the OP.

TAPgiles Oh I have certainly tried. It is not an issue when bringing in a 4-8 bar segment, but for an entire complicated piano piece and attempting to save time by bringing in the whole song in one go? Even snapping can’t help and can even hinder as it does weird things to trills and other musical phrases that don’t adhere perfectly to the rhythm.

My guess is that there are thousands of MIDI versions of copyrighted songs out there and that would be very easy to import them. Covers are not allowed in many countries, because the actually written song melody is also copyrighted (not just the performer), so making it very easy will cause lots of rights issues.

We have already seen any easy fix for right abuse with the audio editor. Restrict the tool to higher levels, and punish the abusers.
