animate paint strokes using a timeline
I am working on a logo idea. The notion is to draw the logo in mid air using a laser or welder, so the logo burns in in a trail. This is simple enough using the animation dialogue box in the tweak menu of the paint strokes, but I don't know how to manipulate the speed with precision. Can someone help me with the logic on this?
Here is what I have as an example;
It's three words, but I will use the letter T as an example;
the T has 8 strokes painted from top left, counterclockwise
The animation tags are set as follows;
playback speed: 5000%
Animate in sequence: on
loop: off
pulse:on
Trail length: 20%
Jet trail: on
Time Offset: 0%
I want to be able to control the playback speed of the line in seconds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

let me try to clarify a little bit. The trouble I'm having is that I want to be able to adjust the playback speed of the paint strokes with logic on a timeline without having to worry about the % value in the playback tab (I don't know what it is a percentage of btw), so I'd like to make it so that the animation cycles completely in a duration (in seconds) I can set in the timeline. is this possible?

Just a heads up... I think most of those settings won't actually help you towards your goal. Animate in sequence only works if you painted multiple frames of animation into the same painting object. And jet trail only does anything if you move the painting itself in the scene.
I take it you want to reveal a line from beginning to end, then the next line from beginning to end, etc. etc.?
If so, first make each line a separate painting so you can have them play one after the other. Then look in the tweak menu for one of them. Go to the Stroke tab, and look for the start point and end point sliders. Fiddle with them and see how they hide flecks at either end of the stroke. You can use keyframes to set those at different points, and animate them on a timeline as normal, timing things so one line goes after another. And to adjust the timing, just adjust the positions of those keyframes in the scene.
If you're not sure about how to animate things using keyframes, I'd recommend going through the animation tutorials if you haven't already.
