How do I: Read the surface angle and rotate somthing allong it?
Hi.
I have been experimenting with lazer scopes and look at rotators, to read the surface angle and plug it into a look at rotators scene space direction.
But when I move it above a angled surface it just becomes horizontal as if it where on flat ground.
Am I doing somthing wrong?

Hi, sounds like what you're doing should work. If you tweak the laser scope gadget you'll see a small green debug arrow that shows the surface normal where the laser hits the object. If you then open the tweak menu of the look at rotator you should see a white arrow that is lined up with the green arrow. Hopefully that'll give you enough to work it out. I suspect perhaps the look at rotators arrow is not pointing the direction you think it is relative to the object.
thanks

Hi yes I have been looking at those arrows.
I have my look-at-rotator point up to allinge with the floor and went into that debug play mode to look at what the laser-scope was doing.
However the laser-scope green arrow is pointing in the right direction but my look-at-rotator didn't do anything.
It's very strange. -
Hmm, perhaps double check that your look-at rotator is stuck to the object you think it is. Try creating sculpting a simple block and stick the look-at to that to make sure it is having some effect. Make sure the look-at rotator is powered on (power button lit up) and try setting the strength to 100%. Double check you have the wire going from "Hit Surface Orientation" on the laser scope to "Scene Space Direction" on the look-at.
Hopefully something will work! :)

I don't understand.
If I use a test object it behaves as expected, but not the foot of my custom character. -
Do you think I have to remake it?
-
I even checked if all conditions where the same including which objects were affected.
-
Ah, if it's a character it may be that it's playing badly with the procedural animation. Try disabling it as a test. The options are on the bottom of page 5 on the puppet.

It's not a puppet.
It's a bunch of objects joined together. -
I remade it btw, but got the same problem.
