Align emitted hitscan decals (Paintings) to a target surface [Laser Scope + Emitter]
Dreamiverse Element: https://indreams.me/element/oVBEXeUouMb
I have a basic turret set up to emit bullethole decals (paint flecks) at some dummy targets. So far, it sweeps a laser pointer back and forth, emitting decals on each target as expected. Decals do rotate in response to angled surfaces, but don't lay flat, regardless of orientation. Looks kinda neat, not what I need!
I can't figure out the obvious fix and it's driving me 100% bonkers. Please help.
Thanks!

Awesome, that does it! Thank you, Giles. Your tutorials are indispensable, man.
Found a bonus: Emitters ONLY calculate a painting's origin point at the precise moment you link them with "Object to Emit." After linking, you can make the painting itself lopsided, off-center, animated, etc. and it will still emit in the same spot as before. No need to create a group.
To preview a lopsided painting's recalculated origin point, you can wire a Rotator to the painting (don't surface snap), and look at the Rotator's gizmo. -
Awesome. Cheers!
Ah yeah that's true. I've used that before, but haven't used it for a painting in this way at least. I think I'd find it confusing trying to remember where the actual centre was ;P
But yeah if you want to stay efficient that's a good way to go.
