Live Scuplting
I don't Know what to call it. But Would this be possible.
Say We are in creative. I Create a block(One scuplture, not grouped).
Next We go into playmode. My Character has a bomb. He/She throws the bomb into the block and deletes a chunk of it in the explosion radius.
Better example would be LBP. A rocket crashes into a material like sponge or cardboard, and takes a chunk out of it.
Now take the same LBP rocket but create your own "explosion zone"(Deletion blocks in scuplture mode) for it. Place the zone inside an emmitter.
Once the "explosion zone" is emmitted, any part of a sculpture that comes within the zone is deleted.
Basically a drawing on the whiteboard, but you are only erasing half of it.
Is this doable in playmode?

This is not possible. Editing in Sculpt Mode affects the Graphics thermo and therefore cannot happen during Play Mode. A good trick to test what is possible, is to stamp a Keyframe - any changes that the Keyframe can record are can happen in Play mode. When editing a Keyframe, Sculpt and Paint modes are no available :)

You could create your own version of this by layering multiple sculpts and having an explosion destroy sculpts within a given radius.
This would somewhat simulate what you are describing.
