Is there an easy way to fade out a sound effect, without using extra logic?
The sound gadget settings are extremely expansive, so I may have missed an option to do this directly. I thought there might be an option to reduce the volume gradually within the slice editor, however I can only figure out how to change the volume of the whole slice/waveform.

The first tab of the sound tweak menu has a envelope , if you move the straight line (sustain) to the bottom , moving sideways will determine the time for the volume to reach 0 while the sample plays or sustains.

Another way would be to use the fade nodes in the timeline. Most gadgets, and *all* sound gadgets show little nubs on the top-left and top-right corners. Drag these along the top edge with R2 to make the gadget fade in or fade out.

I've tried messing around with the envelope a fair bit, but the fadeout is far too brief and doesn't sound like I expected. I want something more similar to the white circle/dot that you can move on the top right hand corner of an instrument on a music timeline.
Although, I'd rather not use a timeline just for a single sound effect, to minimise thermometer usage. -
Have you tried moving the tail end of the ADSR envelope? That will make it full volume until you power it off and then the volume will gradually decrease. Perhaps that will do what you wanted.
But I would just use a timeline. Gadgets don't use much thermo unless you're using a ton of them. So don't shy away from using the right tool for the right job.
