How do I get a timeline to play when I want it to?
Hello!
I made a timeline containing key frame animations and sound effects. When I press play on the timeline in edit mode, it works perfectly as intended.
I left the timeline alone while building some quests. Now that the quests are in place (the final bit being input from player in Dialogue), I want the timeline to play. But I ONLY want it to play when the player finishes that dialogue.
I tried connecting the dialogue finished wire to the timeline in various spots on the timeline tweak menu, but nothing works. The timeline either plays immediately when i start play mode, or does not play at all.
I'm sure I'm overlooking something. What do you use to trigger a timeline to play?

Try a switch, or trigger zone

Thank you. I sort of figured out what I did wrong? I deleted a timer and signal manipulator and just directly wired it from dialogue finish to power on the timeline.
it works now but.......well I realized I only animated the container and not its contents, which are left behind. Time to redo the animation.... -
Hey,
You should be able to trigger a Timeline by wiring your dialogue's Text Finished output into the Power port, which you'll find on the bottom of the Timeline gadget itself (it'll show up when you're wiring), or on the bottom of the Timeline's tweak menu. Note that the Text Finished output will only send a signal for one frame. If you want your Timeline to remain on after it's been started, then tweak it and ensure its Playback Mode property is set to Once.
Hope that helps!
