Fixes and new options for pixel art using square fleck
The new square fleck is great for pixel art but the way the tools are isn't really suited for making lots of pixel art and it has a few bugs.
1. The flecks randomly don't snap to the grid properly making them difficult to work with.
2. When you stamp the square fleck over another one it causes it to flicker. They either need to merge their colours (not super optimised) or the previous fleck needs to be deleted.
3. The way to make a 2D canvas to paint onto is quite alot of hassle. It causes the sculpt's flecks to overlap the pixel art even if you reduce the sculpts fleck size and flatten it's flecks. It requires too much knowledge for beginners to use it easily as they also need to enable surface snap and grid. Maybe a tool for drawing 2D art could be added which just opens a flat canvas that we can draw onto.
4. The grid only lets you draw in straight lines. It would be good to just make it so that when using the draw line tool and grid it draws in a line if not it's basically just free to snap to any point on the grid.
5. Most pixel art tools have features to make it faster like drawing flecks in a circle, square or triangle (and the bucket fill tool but this would be kinda difficult to add). Bigger brush sizes for drawing pixels. And features that improve the appearances of it like pixel perfect option.
6. The delete tool is really time consuming. Every time you want to delete a single fleck you have to switch over to a completely different tool and you can only delete a single fleck or line at a time. Pressing triangle or circle to delete anything we're hovering over would make it so much faster.
I really think the tools could be amazing for pixel art so I hope some of these things get added.

+1 on most points here, though I think Mm probably won't implement many fixes just for pixel art.
1) The paint interface has a certain fuzziness with grid alignment -- every single paint fleck you stamp is a little bit imprecise, unless you take time to align the imp just right. What I do instead is stamp a single fleck, exit Paint Mode, and copy that painting everywhere. This way, Dreams can just use the origin point of one painting and keep things consistent, rather than making up wacky new origin points every time. It's an unnecessary pain in the butt, but it works.
2) It's impossible for the system to predict which flecks should be prioritized and blended, because different users will have wildly differing preferences on this. That said, a toggle for combining overlapped strokes would be very nice, though it would be tricky to implement and would have unintended effects all the time.
3) I find working without a canvas is much easier, as the grid/surface snap places flecks inside the canvas geometry more often than not. But this has to do with how shapes are stamped. In Sculpt Mode, depending on how your imp is aligned to the grid, any given shape's boundaries may be defined slightly before or after the grid points, rather than exactly on top of them. You can control this by twisting the imp in certain directions, but it takes quite a bit of practice and we shouldn't have to do it anyway.
For a strong example of this grid fuzziness, go into Sculpt Mode, select the Pyramid shape, and go into Shape Edit mode with Grid Snap on. Grab the Pyramid's corners and watch them bounce all over the place. Paint flecks do the same thing, they're just smaller so it's more difficult to notice.
4) Yep. I'd prefer a toggle to snap flecks onto a 2d plane. Snapping onto a line works great for stuff with variable fleck size, like rocket exhaust or spark effects.
5) That's a big ask. Mm probably won't do it.
6) Agree. Even a simple box select within Paint Mode would be a huge advancement.

1. It shouldn't really have this problem with aligning flecks to the grid though, it seems like a bug perhaps. They maybe can't figure out the cause of it or they need to redo the system for it perhaps.
2. A toggle that blends the colours of flecks would be cool, it actually does this with sculpts if you place them in exactly the same position. For the deleting idea, it would be difficult to implement but it is feasible to check the position, orientation and size of every fleck you're working with and delete the oldest one if it matches the one you just put down.
3. I've made a few things without surface snapping it and it does work but often when I move the camera it sometimes puts flecks behind or infront of where I'm trying to place them and I don't notice. A 2D canvas mode for painting 2D things would be cool. If you could open it like an instrument and play notes but drawing instead.
4. Yeah it good for some things.
5. It would useful for more than pixel art but yeah they probably won't, would be nice to have some new painting tools though. It's really difficult to make a simple perfect circle in dreams so maybe they should.
6. I wonder if it's not possible to edit more than one thing at a time as it seems like they would of added it by now if it's possible. It such a simple tool that's so useful though.
