Separating parts of a sculpt?

Is it possible to separate shapes of a sculpt and make them their own sculpts or elements? Started putting something together, then realized paining the individual pieces would be easier to do without bleeding out over the whole sculpt.

  Yes, in the Tools section you'll find the Cutout tool: https://indreams.me/guide/palette-glossary/model/tools/cut-out
  
  Select it and then stamp a shape that completely surrounds the part of the sculpt you want to cut out.
