Please someone explain grid...

Strange I don't have this problem.

But I do have a problem where importing or scaling an object causes objects to be a incorrect size on the grid compared to others.

The grid does allow 45 degrees rotations, so if the are at an angle of 45 degrees you should be able to just rotate them back.
If that doesn't work that would be very strange.

There's a separate guide for angle snapping, and I think grid snapped things will snap from their centre of mass, meaning the edges of the object might be off the grid.

Try the different guides to see how they work

It sounds like your wall has been made off grid, which means that when you snap to the grid it is actually snapping to its original orientation which is off grid.

You can manually fix this by identifying the grid you want the wall to snap to (maybe sculpt a new block on grid next to the wall as a guide) and using the precise move tool, tunnel into the object and move all its parts back onto the grid. You can also move the whole group back onto the grid but it will reset off the grid if you press triangle on it.

Sorry, it can be frustrating when an object is off grid, Hope this solution helps you out.

It would be handy if the grid was more flexible.
Like when I click with a certain tool on a flat surface of an object it makes that the new orientation of the object that is alligned to the grid.

Maby you could make that or maby it's too hard. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
