How do I use a character created by another user and reanimate it?

So, I have this idea to make a short video, but since I suck at designing characters, I thought of using someone elses character and use it to animate the video.
But when I go into animation-mode and search for character to use, the game doesn't allow me to animate the character.

Is this not allowed, or am I missing something?
The creator of the character is automatically credited by the game, so I imagined it'd be possible to use other people's creations.

Otherwise I have no idea how to even start figuring out how to animate characters for a short video, as my sculpting-skills are non-existent.

  What do you mean when you say it doesn't allow you to animate it?
  
  Are you trying to record possession, or are you animating with keyframes?
  
  When using keyframes, have you made sure to drill-in to the puppet (L1+X)?

  So you came to forums to ask questions before watching the tutorials? Interesing. There are tutorials on animation, albeit pretty basic. You should watch them
