Use an impact sensor. Hook up the impact sensor to a splitter. The splitter will now have a surface audio type output.

Adding to what Tapgiles said, you could tag the puppet as an "enemy" and make it so your weapon doesn't collide with "enemies" and instead is will look like the weapon slices through them

I think the simplest way to do this would be to use the selector, I think the selector guarantees only 1 output at a time, but I might be wrong

It seems puppets were not designed to use mover and rotator logic to achieve their motion. I would try using the standard motion for the puppets.
