How do I snap to the grid lines.

  • thebiv

And why can't I add a png file to my post from my phone.

I agree, I work with grids and I always have them at top surface of an object. I soon realised that Dreams centres objects, so to get them level they have to be the same thickness, or align by eye but it's not perfect.

Yeah, it's no good. Trying to make pixel objects isn't even possible without gridlock.

The default sculpt on the default grid should line up the edges & its centre point with dots on the grid line. But if they dont I have some tips that can help you out.

When stamping down a cube you can press L1 + Square to edit your brush. In this mode you can select the grio icon which will display a bunch of grip points on your sculpt. Select a grip point on the corner of your cube and press circle to back out of the edit brush menu. You are now grabbing your cube by the corner and can place it on any grid size easily.

Also you can scale the grid up and down using L1 + Up/Down on D-Pad which can often be useful too :)

Hope this is helpful - Peter

Sorry, I'm still confused. Are the "dots" the corners or the center points?

How do you scale up the grid using the moves? Thanks

Gotta say i also have frustrations with this. I make a cube with the grid, and when i clone it and try to align it to the left or right, theres a gap between both cubes or they overlap slightly. I would love to have the gris be a specific width and height that we can set up. Grid 1cm by 1cm for example. This would make it much easier also to make specific measurements for complex shapes

Yeah this currently a very frustrating aspect to Dreams. Hella enjoying it but still very frustrating. The grid system doesn’t seem very intuitive at the minute. It’s so hard to line up stuff with the grid. You would expect when resizing/stretching a shape, that it would fit the points on the grid?

    Currently, it doesn’t.

I wonder if the trouble of snapping to grid by the corners instead of the centers is that not all the shapes are flat? It causes a different kind of problem to line up the side of a sphere or pyramid to a grid, doesn't it?

Stretching sculpts and changing the grid size downward for placement has helped me a little. I hope it helps others too.
