Fading in text boxes

Hello - I can’t work our what I’m doing wrong.

I have text boxes whose opacity is linked to a keyframe. When the frame is powered it does not smooth in with the timing I’ve set - the text box appears very quickly. it does smooth out though. I’ve tried to achieve the same effect with a signal modifier and it still fades in incredibly fast even when I put a very very long fade in time on it.

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

  So I'm guessing if you set ramp in time and ramp out time to the same, it seems like it appears quicker than it fades out? I think this is just down to the fact that it's appearing and not disappearing. Once it gets to a certain point, it's hard to tell the difference as it increases opacity.
  
  Another part of this is that those smoothing options use ease-in, I believe. Which means it quickly gets close to the desired value, and then slowly does the last little bit. That could give the impression the ramp in is faster.
  
  Another method you could try is to put the keyframe on a timeline, and put the ramp times to 0, and use the fader handles to linearly ramp up and down the power instead.
  
  Or just fiddle with the ramp in time until it looks right ;P
