Move controllers: Is it possible to rotate things without moving them?

You can do this with the dual shock controller (L2), but there's no easy way to do this with the Move controllers.

It's possible with the Precision Move guide, but it's extremely finicky.

  This would be brilliant. Essentially an equivalent of the L2 rotate on the DS4 but for move controllers- allowing you to:
  1) rotate objects in the scene independently of translation
  and
  2) rotate sculpting shapes and stamps in hand without using the 'change grip' method
