How do I get all the notes, not just the ones in a specific chord?
I only seem to get the notes available in each chord. Tunes do not really work this way and I am missing the notes I need to make a tune. Also I cant get notes in more than one set of 8 (i.e in the octave below). Is there an option to get a piano style keyboard that I am missing?

If you tilt your dualshock left and right you can go up and down octaves while playing.
There is a pianoroll editor on the sequencer/instrument window. Button on top of the window gets you there if I remember correctly.
The notes available are not just from one chord, but from one scale. If you want _all_ the notes I believe you can choose chromatic scale and you’ll have access to all 12 notes.
Also, if you have a Midi keyboard there is some support at the moment, but it is buggy. YMMV. -
I think you're after the option to change the musical scale which you bring up with r1 I think. With that held down you can change the key and scale modality with the analogue sticks.

I know what you mean. It feels as though I'm fighting the settings in order to make a melody. The easy-to-use chord function is great but individually melody creation feels unintuitive for me without a real keyboard (mine doesn't work). Piano roll isn't the same for me. I'll try the chromatic scale though.
