In the deluxe puppet is a microchip called SFX: blank puppet. It's the white one at the top left corner. Inside is the jump output wired to a sound gadget.

As far as I know the position will only be stored in a keyframe if you press R2. Try to hover over the object and scale then with up and down. That should work.
